There is no such thing as "off topic" if it is germain to the moment. The demonstrations against the coming war between the US and Iraq are hardly covered by the press. One, with more than 100,000 coming to Washington not long ago, was virtually ignored. There are some very strange things going on in the US right now. People are jailed without charges, without their names being released, and prevented from talking with lawyers. These are not "prisoners of war". There is something very strange going on there right now, and very few people are talking about it.

Ukrainian opinion on the "With Fire and Sword" film

The availability in the USA:

To my nice surprise, this film was popular in Ukraine. You probably do not have a feeling that Sienkiewicz's novel is quite a delicate PL-UA issue and it is widely considered as anti-Ukrainian. The film was a huge commercial success in Poland. The Tzarist and Communist interpretation of Khmyelnitski made him a hero who tore Ukraine from the oppressive Polish hands and handed her over into a loving Russian protectorate.
Hoffman had a difficult and delicate task and he has done his job really well. The film staff was international. Thousands of Polish girls absolutely fell in love with the handsome Russian actor Aleksander Domogarov. Bohdan Stupka is much appreciated in Poland. Hoffman employed him again to make another film about the very beginnings of Poland.

Zenja, I am also nervous about the USA government enthusiasm as to the attack against Iraq. I have an acquiantance who is a catholic nun in Hamburg, Maryland. She is active in demonstrating against the next dangerous war. Was Russian intervention in Afghanistan not enough yet?
I do not want do discuss it in detail as this is not a proper thread.

Thx John.. there is truly very little being said in the press about the Bush Plan! However, there is LOTS being said on the Internet and a growing number of sites: petitions, protests, and great deal of information of the sneaky, sleazy and illegal suppression of the press. Please take a look at the following:

Excellent!! Turn up your speakers, sit back and watch all the way to the end...

I would be very interested in any and all feedback.. I am also going to post this as a new thread to separate it and give it distinction. Thanks John for your views. Zenja
