Zenya,
You did not offend me. Just disappoint me. This thread
started about Isreal/Palistine not Iraq. You say you wanted to share the questionaire so the answers and quoted numbers could be discussed.
What difference does it make:- The US has done nothing to Iraq. The "UN" on the other hand has done a lot. Talk about Desert Storm (the UN) or even the no fly Zones (the UN). And dont go on to tell me that the UN is an amercian puppet (as many arabs tell me). Both China and Russia have the power of veto and we know that they dont give a s..t what the US thinks. God, even Syria sent troops to aid in Desert Storm. Enough of that. Lets move on,
Eternity, I understand your insistance on blaming the west but let me give you a couple of other thoughts to ponder.
Syria was not a nation until it was formed (a french mandate to the league of nations) along with Lebanon, of regions of Palistine taken from the Turks in the WW1. It is posible to forgive France for not knowing, but the appointed leaders of Lebanon and Syria knew that part of the land they were given was palestinian. Did they refuse to accept the land and insist to the L of N that it was palistinian land. NO
Jordan (Transjordania), Was formed as an admisistrative region in the same period by British mandate. At the time of partition in 46 everyone knew that 2/3, yes two thirds of Jordon (including the west bank) was palistine. Did Abdullah of Hejaz (the first ruler) insist that 2/3 of the land he had been given was in fact Pasistinian. NO
Did any of these three arab rulers insist to the ignorant westerner that any of their land was in fact the homeland of the Pasistinian NO NO NO NO NO.
Anti-Isreal (not recognising a three thousand year tradition) is the same as what these three Arab leaders did in not recognising the thousands of years of Palistinian tradition. Blame the west but there is more to it than that.
You are not alone. Why is Isreal so agressive :- in '74 at a conference of arab oil states they agreed to give Syria "1 billion" dollars a year to support Syria's anti Isreal activities. Now there is a good neighbourly gesture.

Len.
