You do realise what the Roo is doing don't you V-G! and here I was thinking oyu were going to leave sexy talk out of it.
OK back on topic, during the mid 90s there was a lot of talk in Australia at least from Soviet Union expats that the Soviet Union would reform somehow and Communism would take hold again. It was complete and utter xenophobia but it was still a fear that was discussed. Even as recently as 3 years ago I had a parent go of her rocker at me because I dare teach an elective topic on Russia and the Soviet Union as she said we live in dangerous times and I don't want my (17 year old) daughter hearing about that type of thing. Pity she didn't know what her (17 year old) daughter was doing when mummy wasn't home I think the discussion about Communism would have been preferred. |

I believe it would be a little harder today for Russia to do that.
Thay do have CIS in place to reform the Soviet Union but i believe Russia would have to invade each former republic to recreate the Soviet Union. No leader currently with the exception of Belarus wants to give up power to rejoin the Soviet Union.

Interesting, I didn't know Belarus was willing to give up its autonomy to be a part of a reformed Soviet Union. But then again I don't really know any Belarusia's. The only thing I have heard with Belarus is it is still like a dictatorship and pretty hard to do anything without the authorities knowing about it and if they don't like it they will be pretty hard on you.

unfortunantely most former republics are dictatorships.
Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan - except he is nice one turkmenistans president one party system - not sure, few information comes out of that country except for economics. Tajikistan's president - the guy has been in office a long time Most are old communist bosses who ruled the country under communism and never stepped down.

Lemko, we don't hear much about the Asian republics, most of the news here that isn't on Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus is on the Caucasus region, especially since the UN blamed Russia for shooting down the Georgian Spy Drone.
I'll leave that up to your vivid imagination. |
