He can, and will, behave like an arsehole - but he won't go further than that.

Long term he will abuse the pro-Moscow sentiment in the East to constantly make life difficult for Kiev and frustrate any moves towards EU membership. He will fail in the long run I'm sure but he will continue to be a major pain in the arse for Ukraine for many years yet.

He is an arsehole not only for Ukraine. Also i.e. for Georgia, Moldova etc.
Type "Russia threatens" in Google - results are in hundreds thousands.
Putin even threatens EU to sell gas back to Ukraine i.e. Gazprom Threatens Gas Supplies if European Union Sells Gas to Ukraine
This gas which they bought from Russia or excavated from own sources of purchased from other countries and paid for. Is it normal?

It occurred to me a while ago that the EU could just sell gas back to Ukraine. If that Russian threat is legitimate than that's cast iron proof that this has nothing to do with unpaid gas bills and everything to do with punishing Ukraine for defying Moscow.

Google results mean nothing - try typing "ufo landings" and you'll get the same results.

I'm not denying Russia is a threat, I'm just saying that Russia won't attack the EU or NATO. Join EU and NATO and Ukraine will be safe.

Putin is trying desperately to ensure Ukraine joins neither. Defy him again.

We own needs to have enough gas extracted in Ukraine. A gas from Kuwait for the EU is cheaper than in Russia (extracted in Uzbekistan).
I do not understand why the U.S. pull rubber. Is it rests on the aircraft carrier Mistral?
Gas is not the cause, it's consequent justification of war against Ukraine.
Did France and Germany do not understand that their security depends on Ukraine? :
Луценко: Україна має всі важелі, щоб примусити *осію припинити війну : Новини УНІАН
P.S. Russia more than half a year, talks about Ukraine as its territory: gas pipe "its" Ukraine, the crisis "its" Ukraine. It's official verbiage Russian language. For the preposition "to" use for their own territory, and the preposition "in" use for chezhoyi state. During 1025 celebration anniversary of Kievan Rus’ Putin officially declared war on Ukraine, now laughing at stupid Europe.

GoodLuck:
I just tried to say that Russia officially threats many independent countries regardless they are in EU & NATO or not and other countries do not say anything against it.
Of course it is personal Putin goal to prevent Ukraine from being in EU & NATO because if Ukraine joined EU & NATO earlier, war couldn't happen and he wouldn't be able to steal even smallest part of Ukraine.

Oleg:
I am sure that France doesn't consider Russia as any possible danger. They are simply too far and focused only on own issues. France maybe is for sanctions against Russia but without Mistrals which could be used for a definition of egoism. Similar situation is related to Germany: they could be for sanctions but i.e. not considering gas supplies. The same about Great Britain: sanctions are justified but without financial sector and so on.
About Germany: it is probably more difficult as some politicians probably consider Russia as a possible danger for Europe but some consider themself as "socialists" (look at theirs logo, it is almost whole red - Social Democratic Party of Germany - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and may be even bribed by Russia (look at .Additionally there are only few major parties in Germany and probably none of them is able to rule independently. Russian influence in Germany is obvious.
Again problem is that EU is not one country but 28 very different ones tied by economic pact only and making very different decisions.
Another problem is related to NATO: they naively believed in good relations with Russia, delivered and partly still partly continue delivering weapon to Russia. This problem came from Obama naivety and belief in "democratic socialism".
Considering economic relations, EU political issues, Obama shortsightedness, Russian military force, Russian propaganda strength, Putin support in Russia, his ruthlessness based on evil plans, fact that Ukraine is outside EU & NATO, this situation is really bad and only strong Ukraine resistance including a lot of sacrifice can discourage and stop Putin as nobody else seems to be likely to do it now.

Of course that is also right that there is a lot of stupidity in Europe. For example translate this: Niemcy: Cmentarz dla czołgów. Zniszczono tam ponad 15 tys. sprawnych maszyn
They could give these tanks to other countries like Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Poland, Balts, Romania, Finland etc. or just keep them. Russia doesn't care about pacts they signed nor international law but it is very difficult to be considered.
