Let me just break down my thoughts on this matter: you can not have a prosperous independent country. EU countries are well off because they are united. NAFTA (Can&US&Mex) are well off because they share their economical resources - canadian natural resources, american tech and secondary ind, and mexican cheap labour. Now we get to the eastern tigers. China - big economic reforms, they WILL be an economic and political powerhouse as SOON as 10-15 years, which means they will have small asian countries as allies or satellite states. That leaves the slavic region the only unorganized unprotected place, where you actually (apperantly) get ukranian nationalists not wanting to have anything to do with russia (because that is the impression I am getting from this board). What are you going to have? You will be all abused - the russian natural resouces by the EU, the Ukranian labour & resources will go too. The international investment means the following: masters in your own house. The heads of the corporations will be from other countries, your markets will be dominated even though not necessarily by foreighn products, but the management of big corporations will be either american, or EU.

Slovaks should cling to eachother for economic and even cultural saviour.

Grandma - you think that when Germans start heavy investments in Ukraine and its reasources your language will remain sacred and unravished?
