Hi,
Just looked at the recent issue of The Economist and it looks like Ukrainian GNP is the second lowest GNP in the whole Eastern Europe, with Romania being last. Ukraine has $600 per capita comparing with even Russia's $1400 per capita. This statistic fills me full with rage. The country, I was once born and raised in, after 10 years of its independance, is still the worst country in the whole Europe. With this statistics it looks like people in Russia are almost twice as wealthy as people in Ukraine. Corrupted government and a president who likes to kill journalists just to stay a president is likely the ones we should blame. I think people of Ukraine should rise and do something about it. I think, Kuchma is one goddamn dictator who cares only about how much money he is getting and would do anything to make even more. He gets all those money from honest working Ukrainian men and women. I think Ukraine deserves a better president, what do you think? |

Greetings
It's not so much the fault of Kuchma after all he shouldn't be controlling the market if Ukraine is a democratic state. Then Kuchma is brininging old school back into power. He is befrieding the hardliner maniacs. Which is scary not only form a Ukrainian view but from a world view. I suggest that the Ukrainian parliament ousts or impeaches him before he can create a communist dictatorship. Well there is a major economic crisis throughout Central Europe, Poland is having major economic problems. This is the transition period. It will last for many years, at least another 10. In the Russian Federation it will take around 20 from now on, they are very far behind with technology. One another factor that is bringing the economy down, is that people have been used to the old system in which everything was the property of the "people". This is a sad but true factor, people just don't respect the goods they manufacture. They are very likely to be slacking off since they are being paid low wages. This happens today as well. Many Belrussians, Ukranians and Russians as well as Germans from the former east are working in Poland illegally. As well as other countries. It's sad but until we finally learn to respect property. We may be helping the debts. Ukraine depends too much on the Russian Federation as well as the other Central European countries. Oil primarily. Well no one ever said that it was going to be easy. It's a slow transition period, at least we have not been affected as bad as the Russian Federation which mainly wasted all their money on military might. And look at them now their glowin'-in-the-dark destroyers lay ruined in ports. The Navy can't even afford to take the nuclear reactor engines apart! Another thing that's terrible that people forget things when bad things are going on. Such as the people of Poland are forgetting who faugth for them in the 80's but now they are voting for communists who tell bologny that "it's new socialism" not the old one! Ha makes me laugh! To me it's the same as saying: no matter how much coffee Boris Yeltsin will drink he will be drunk! |
