USA's Outrage-Only When It's To Their Advantage!
Obama has been most vociferous about BP's industrial incident, resulting in the disastrous spillage of crude oil into the sea that has badly polluted their shoreline and caused marine life to be destroyed. The President in an attempt to gain greater popularity, has allowed himself to be seen as the protector and saviour of US citizens from the actions of the evil British company that has caused this catastrophe.
Whilst I acknowledge the pain inflicted on the USA, I cannot help but consider "where was and remains any care by the USA for the hundreds of Indian citizens that were killed and continue to die (including subsequent children) in Bhopal?"
This badly managed American owned chemical plant exploded releasing toxic agents into the environment. The payment of compensation by Indian claimants from the USA plant owners was frustrated and cursory. The company eventually surrendered its liability to another successor USA company that has since not taken reasponsibilty for paying for the decontamination of the site, or considering any further damages claims resulting from effected Indian claimants.
But don't worry American claimants, your government has much bigger clout over a part owned British company than Inda does over an American one and you will be compensated in full. and fairly quickly.
