This thread has dwindled into nothing more than an at times impertinent disagreement. I also feel that at times my youth and the relative hollowness of my intellect has let my campaign down.

I have (albiet expectedly) found myself on a dangerous path of peacefully combatting stubborn resistance and have all together failed to do myself, or the Slavic message justice.

The failure was not alone of your own making. Many 'debaters' use threads to advance their own agenda, rather than discuss the merits of a given thread. You, most certainly, must have discovered that. Having learned from this experience, hopefully, you will gather enough fortitude to commence a new thread. You may also want to consider continuing the thread with a narrower, well defined, scope.

Contrary to NORRYM's opinion I think this thread just became relevant.

The idea of Slavic unity in my opinion is ludricous but what it reveals about some people's motivations is very interesting.

We were just given the previlege of peering into the dawn of humanity. It was better than the opening of 2001.

I am sure good old Misio felt a few shivers down his spine contemplating the quality of his backer.


How to answer Nonson's statements?

I guess I must bow down to his superior grasp of foreign affairs. What a breadth of knowlodge. Such lucidity.

I specially like the bit below

This is proof that man can forgive everything. Given the enormous number of slavs murdered by defenders of aryan purity during WorldWar2, I admire the christian attitude of forgiveness displayed by Nonson.



Always thinking of the good of the community, this loving man appeals to everyone's civic duty:

I would personally add:

" show the West how the sudden collapse of communist societies has led to the complete moral and cultural disorientation of some of its members. The loss of descredited past social values being replaced by the worst of western values while adopting little of the best has lead to the complete alienation of large sectors of society.
From this gutter a number of lonely and sad (900 posts in 6 months) individuals has embraced a badly mixed cocktail of racism, anti-semitism, political paranoia, and all around ignorance.

To all fellow slavs I ask: help them rise from the gutter."

I completely disagree that Nonson's proposals are road kill.

Sure they are not intellectually serious and most people with a reasonable knowledge of the world around them will find them abhorrent. However, that still leaves a large field for them to develop and become politically significant. It does not take much to notice how this cocktail of nationalism, xenophobia and conspiracy theory mentality is very common in the countries of the former eastern bloc. That is specially the case in russia and bielo-rus and somewhat so in ukraine.

This is a present social pathology that should be faced directly and not just dismissed as the lunacy of some.

Another point that concerns me is that perhaps the most common reason quoted by the participants of this forum, to reject slavic unity is that of potential russian domination.

Once again I think this is missing the point. Even if russia was a small country the union of slavic countries would be a bad idea because it is based on a common genetic denominator and not in a common set of shared values.

I can always change my party or ideology but i cannot change my genes or my colour.

Many people think it cannot be achieved. They believe that Slavs were never meant to be united. This is a fallacy promoted by over-zealous nationalists and Western forces as well. Slavic Nationalism works because it admits that some Slavs will never consent to be part in such a movement. Rather than trying to fight for some kind of Pan Slavic state, the Slavic Nationalist fights for the pride of his race, and to inspire his brothers and sisters to do the same. It is within ourselves that the revolution to accomplish the seemingly impossible shall emerge.

Put up posters, pass out flyers- Put the truth in people's faces and force them to account for it. It is surprising how people have been conditioned to ignore reality, preferring instead the reality fabricated by the media. It is not enough simply to show them the truth a little at a time or just once. The average person has become well trained in rationalizing his viewpoint, even when reality is radically different. You must drown them with the truth. Submerge them until they can no longer make excuses. May our united voice be so loud that not one person on this Earth may not hear it!

What is the source of the national pride? The confidence that the nation has atchievments comparable with these of the other nations. Comparable means universal. Something what is common and valuable not only in some particular society but in culture zone.
Slaves could be proud not for incomprehensible curiosities characteristic for local folclor but its contribution to the universal values: culture, science, art.
Slaves should be proud of their with full rights membership in European and Word family of nations, not ethnic relationships with loosers concentrating on complains and accusations of the whole surrounding world.

In Chechnya the whole potential Russian so called 'cultural mission' got discredited, as it did in Poland, Ukraine, Kazachstan and other regions. Exept with the war and violence Russian politicians have nothing in their offert, what evidences poverty and devastation of all regions dominated by Russia. Longer dominated, in more desespered state is now.
