Is it such a bad thing if Ukraine heals its rifts with the Kremlin, I wonder. Leaning west may not have been the ideal way forward, given the weakness of the European Union.

I think West is and was the only way forward. I've never seen the EU as a weak link.

Like you said in your article, last election, Yanukovich was clearly endorsed, this election we are not really sure because Yulia has been keeping ties with Moscow as well. Only time will tell, but the next 5 years wont be pretty.

This election is going to be a giant step backwards for Ukraine, no matter who wins.

Ukraine should do what Ukraine wants to do. How many people who have commented in this thread actually live there now? It's all well and good to say what you want for Ukraine but if your not there there's sfa you can do about it.

BUT, I have family and friends there that I want the best for. I doubt that Putin is going to waant the best for my family... OR UKRAINE!

Russia is going to use it like a Monopoly board game piece to be used and traded as it suits Russia.
