Perhaps they should go the way of the Canadians, bilingual. Not always popular with Western Canada but it did solve alot of issues.

Mike-polska & BY, I think you intentionally forget the dispersion of the Ruthenian (Ukrainian) population, regardless of official territory's name or leadership.

The Zaporozhian Kozak's occupied the territory of Eastern Ukraine; this very territory that you two speak of as Russian and "given" as part of the Russian Empire.

not a great example. nobody in canada speaks french, canada was never truly bilingual to begin with.

but yes, i dont think much harm would come from letting it be official in some places. ukrainian and russian are so similar as it is.
