The new bloody war is ripening at back seat of Europe!

I think it will be one more little bloody war like took place in former Yugoslavia. Loony Saakashvili who is trying to realize by violent force reunion of Georgia with South Ossetia (unacknowledged republic) is just irrelevant. It smells war in the Caucasus due to him! I guess American advisers suggested him to use weapons! Georgians’ provocations forced patient Ossetinians to rise alertness and increase the number of frontier troops up to 900 person or so. What will be the end of confrontation between Georgia and South Ossetia we need to play guessing game but it’s clear that it will not be just peaceful strong handshake!

Oh so is Europe's seat so far? I never could think Georgia is Europe at least in geographic sense.

What I see is the biggest provocations come from Russia, I mean shake down of Georgian autopilot airplanes, Russian soldiers as "railroad workers" etc.

The Russia at the moment plays the most active role in whipping up the conflict. Only blind one can't see this is response for Kosovo independence. There is not the American trace there at all. Europeans as usually only want to extinguish a fire.

I don't think georgia would have a chance or at least it would be a stalemate. The ossetians with the help of akbhazia and north ossetians would probably bring about the same strength as georgia's military and Georgia does not own any air superioty fighters, just 10 su-25 ground attacks. Akhbazia has 1 mig-21 and 2 su-27.

The situation around the Georgia is too obvious... Russia resisted the Kosovo independence and declared it will reconsider the relations with Abkhazia and North Ossetia if World community will take out the Kosovo from Serbia. Right after that they raised the blockade from Georgian separatists.

Besides, they have old enmity to democratic President Saakashvili so this is also attempt to deprive him of power.

All these sudden activities in previously half dead "republics" were inspirited directly by Kremlin. In reality, we deal only with separatists which are being fed from Russia.

At the moment there are a lot of international and European observers in this region who confirm Georgia does not concentrate the military forces on borders. It's hard to predict the screenplay if the conflict will deepen.

What a pack of lies. Ossetian villages and main city are being pounded by artillery and aircraft - seems like it's done by Martians then, or maybe it is Russia who is attacking Ossetia now? I hope our government is clever enough to stop this small Hitler Saakashvili while he is small.

Georgia is being bombed by Russia's warplanes and tanks.

"All day today, they've been bombing Georgia from numerous warplanes and specifically targeting (the) civilian population, and we have scores of wounded and dead among (the) civilian population all around the country," President Mikhail Saakashvili told CNN in an exclusive interview.

honestly I was not expecting this especially when the olympics are going on, usually they solve this diplmatically. oh well, russian aggressian will topple georgia, unless international help will be provided.

I read on MIG news site this morning that an aircraft belonging to the Russian Armed forces of Ukraine was involved in the bombing. How can this name be so? Does Ukraine itself not control its armed forces?
