it seems a georgian forces pulled out of South ossetia and are asking for a ceasefire, but abkhazian forces have mobilized and are preparing to attack and bomb Georgia's kodori valley in attempt to create a second front.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk confirmed that the Ukrainian, Polish and Lithuanian Foreign Ministries are drafting a tripartite statement of the Presidents on the situation in Georgia.

According to Tarasyuk, the statement is being readied upon instruction of the Presidents of the three nations. As he said, the text of the statement will be constructive and will aim at reaching a result.
That is only official information of Ukrainian origin i was able to find for today.

Big navy is not required to block an entrance into harbor, on or two old ships sunk at entrance is enough, and it happened b4. I And i think that would be right way, if Russia will use ships based in Ukraine for assault on Georgia.

I don't disagree with you there. I'm just curious if that event did take place, would Russia invade Ukraine?

I hope not, and i think they are not ready for that, not yet at least...

Let us look back.

Russia was supporting Osetia & Abkhazia, while those republics were not recognized anywhere else. In doing so they have reached certain level of loyalty among inhabitants of that unrecognized republics. That was made on a purpose, waiting for an excuse to try & get those "republics" under Russian control. They have an excuse now ... If Russia succeed, i think those "republics" will exist same way as Belarus does. (Btw, then you are heading for Russia from Ukraine, train passes through Belarus, and there is only one border you have to pass, there is no Russian/Belorussian border you can notice as a tourist.. strange is not it ?)

Now back to Ukraine.
As far as i can gather, People living in Crimea are not that devoted to Russia yet, in addition there is native Tatarian community (members of which were treated badly by Russians at all times, in the past and at present days, and they remember that well).

Russia can attack this area (losing positive image they still have for some), but they are not likely to hold it, so it seems unprofitable, and i think they would not.

wow, you can't be serious, are you? then again, you've been a huge conspiracy theory proponent in the past - trying to muck up these forums with inane ramblings

1. Ukraine next? Georgia is committing genocide on Russian citizens. How on earth do you propose Russia would attack a neutral state? You're just making things up here and its disgusting!

2. Russia cares about Ossetians. Why? Because they are Russian citizens! Not only that, but North Ossetia is part of Russia and the Federation has to do what it can to take care of its people.

War about oil and power? What a joke. You could make that claim about ANY war without any actual substance.
