Surely unprotected sites can be easily hacked, but government sites wont be. If you are asked to enter SS#, Date of Birth, and verify some info, it is secure.

the chinese and russians can do it, why cant anyone else? Not only that the site would be open to everyone not to just a select few. And govt. sites do have cyber attacks, its one of the FBIs fields to investigate it.

If i'm not mistaked you can verify your vote online in some states. Well, if you can verify your vote, why not just vote.

This way is possibe.
1 - Have everyone registered with enough data. This way, in order to hack the site, the hackers would have to know the data or the people who registered.
2 - Have everyone vote.
3 - Email verification - I doubt hackers would hack the site and every email client out there. (maybe even phone verification)
4 - Confirm your vote in a few days.

Sounds safe to me.

Online voting was just a whimsy, any system can be hacked but online ones just seem more vulnerable.

I think more Americans would vote for Libertarians if they'd put less focus on legalizing marijuana and arming every citizen. No offense to the stoners and gun enthusiasts, but i don't believe a large enough portion of the country agrees with these 2 issues.

On a side note, i'm having trouble locating all the other parties running this year like the Green and Constitution party. Is there a site that lists all parties and their platforms?

Out of the Third Party Candidates, Libertarians seem most professional.

Yeah it's a shame the vast majority in America will only recognize 2 parties and are basing their vote on either pro war or anti war. The media should give the other parties equal coverage but that would steal the thunder from their spotlight picks, Obama for CNN or McCain for Foxnews.
