Sooner or later the fight among members of “orange” coalition in our Ukraine was to rub off our nation.
But our present leaders continue to think, first of all, about their own advantages in the struggle for power. They do not provide for the future of own country or see interests of own people. See for yourself!
In the short run we are in for such “pleasant surprises” as abolition of promotional regime of value-added tax for our growers, further loss of main source of incomes for Ukraine’s Pension Reserve and abolition of welfare payment for baby birth! In other words, Ukraine is in for social and economic catastrophe. And in this very time our premier, Y. Tymoshenko, calls upon us to waive the right of using Russian gas and began to buy it in EU, where it is surely more expensive than in Russia!
Really the pleasures for the mighty are the tears for the people! But I wonder how long we will drag out such life, pals…

Ukraine badly needs technological restructuring

The EU countries buy gas from Russia themselves. Why the Russian gas prices would be different for the Netherlands and Ukraine? That's strange. Ukraine has to get accustomed to world and not Russian gas and oil prices. Cheaper Russian gas probably implies extra hidden price tag. Poland is roughly at the same distance as Ukraine from Russia and it pays the same price as France or Germany. Ukraine must extensively look for new power sources and it MUST get oriented to lean power consumption. The old Soviet concept "A u nas vsyeho mnogo" has to be forgotten forever.

Yes, Zybszek is right. Eu gets both natural gas and oil from Russia.

Ukraine made a deal recently to build an oil and gas pipeline from Ukraine to Poland. the odessa-brody line. They will get it from the asian repulbics that will build lines into caspian and black sea.

The reason its higher in EU countries is the tax and methods of getting the gas into central europe.

I hate to say this but I believe Ukraine and Russia have to rebuild ties with one another.
