Kyiv Mayoral Election
As of this posting, no hard election results yet. Here are the two most recent stories I've found:
Kyiv Post. Early partial results show incumbent in lead for Kyiv mayor Kyiv Post. Ukraine's capital Kyiv electing mayor, with boxing champion in race What are your thoughts? Did the citizens of Kyiv snub Yulia? What did you think of the voting turn-out (46%, down from 70%)? Did having 70 candidates on the ballot serve Kyiv's interests best? Was the President wrong in blocking a run-off? |

Ah. Please forgive me. I was expressing surprise at what you said (not questioning the truth of your statement): that a person would run for a position like that and not be able to speak Ukrainian.
It also calls into question the judgement of the American firm that helped him in his run...altho I suppose it's unlikely they would have walked away from the money over that issue. |

is5512,
Okay, I get it. Kathy, Ukrainian is the official language of Ukraine. I believe that every government official should be able to speak Ukrainian. As a second point, I think that Ukrainian should be now and forever the only official language of the country. |
