Strom,

3) I can see your point on that. I am not going to arugue that it is different because is really is not. But honestly, I don't think America cares about Bill's sex life. Look at the new governer of New York (don't know if you heard about it). Besides, what Bill did, did not really effect the nation, but his relationship. Which surprisingly worked out. But again, i do see your point.

4) Storm, I believe that at this point in time every candidate wants change, but only one uses it as a slogan.

5) Well as I said, Kathy can be a great person to talk to in private, but once it turns public, I see it completly opposite.

I am like an open book to you Michael, am I not? For a new guy you figured things out very quickly.

Stepan.
Don't say anything bad about Kathy, you don't have a single good reason to do so, she is a terrific person both on boards and in private. Your problem is with me, primarily because I tend to have a bit of inappropriate fun on this site with you and Max. And since you both are in need of pampering and see the Internet as "serious business only" it is rather easy to push your buttons. One day you may even look back and say "thanks" (albeit unlikely).

I think though not all got me correctly... I don't attack the changes in America. Vice versa I admit people really need changes and this urge is so strong they are ready to follow every guy with transparant "Change".

I just doubt if that guy will give them the things they expect.

Here in Ukraine many people think the best US president for us will be... McCain. He is old friend of Ukraine, he supported Yushchenko and Oranges much, he defended the Ukraine from Russia, he is very friendly to us... this guy's presidency suits the best the current needs of Ukrainians.

Again, there are suspects Hilary Clinton will put accents on Russia cooperation again, neglecting the interest of Ukraine in this region as it was at times of Bill Clinton.

As about Obama I can't say something about him. He is just dark horse. In casino you can stake on black or red but you never know what you will get finally.

Max, but the change will come. This is a sad fact but Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the USA and if Obama is elected he will bring change (Clinton would too).

Ok this is democracy, Americans want changes, they will vote and they will got it.

I just want to understand better - what is the Obama's "change"?

Obviosly afroamericans living on welfare in criminalized suburbs put their own sense in idea "change" and rich white liberals living in own villas reflecting upon "egalite & liberte" put in their own sense.

Will Obama join these polar interests and polar hopes?

It seems it's the same as to join the interests of cats and dogs.

Max, my sister in law took a plane from Kyiv to the Black Sea. The worker who checked her passport sneered "Oh, a foreigner." when he read her Russian surname (she has her husband's surname).

My mother in law, who has a Russian father, was upset about this, but my husband laughed when told the story. "She is probably more Ukrainian than he is." my husband said to me when telling me the story.

You see, my husband can trace his ancestry directly to the Zaporizhian Cossacks and beyond. His family name is very famous in history, starting with that Cossack period. His family has lived in Ukraine for at least a millenium yet, in the "new" Ukraine, among the same "movists" who a scant 2 decades ago, sneered at the use of Ukrainian as a "hick language" and could hardly wait to shed their Ukrainian identity, they are now "foreigners".

Volodya speaks Ukrainian, identifies himself as Ukrainian, has a Ukrainian father and a very Ukrainian surname. Yet somehow, he is less a "Ukrainain" than others.

This attitude is Ukraine's tragedy, and will be its downfall. It is manipulation and, as I have stated before, the same brutal commies and Komsomol members who were the first to denounce Ukrainians as "bourgeois nationalists" now are the first to yell "mova, mova" and embrace a Ukrainian ethnocentrism.

Don't get me wrong, I actually support the full use of Ukrainian, even at force, the way Russian was imposed on generations past, because it is the only way to ensure the survival of the Ukrainian language. But nationalist sentiment is being used to manipulate the masses.

Now, to your point about change. The last 2 presidents elected on a message of "change" did fundamentally change the US, and even the world. They both, too, were great communicators, and spoke "pretty words". It is not really about black/white divides (there are more poor whites than there are poor blacks in the US). It is about turning the direction of the country.

Stepan, I have never stated privately anything that is contrary to what I state publicly. It is not my style. What I laid out for you privately was why Volodya was saying these things, and I noted that part of it is also his personality. And, each time I PM'd you or Max, I also PM'd V-G to suggest he tone it down, which he did.

V-G has always been like this on this board. Note some of his past exchanges with dobko. He likes to joke, and this is part of his personality (and a very Ukrainian trait, I will add). It is not done with maliciousness. You are very young and take things very seriously. This is not a bad thing. I was like that too. (When our first child was born, my husband said "I hope she has a light personality, and is not as gloomy as we are.") But, you must appreciate that people are different. I think V-G notes this in you, and that is what his posts are about. If you don't enjoy the exchanges, ignore his posts rather than inflaming the situation. I am not here to babysit posters. I only intervene when things get too heated, because it is to the detriment of the board.

You are not much older than 2 of my children. Today, my oldest and my youngest were both angry with me because, after warnings, they came to blows, and I sent them both to their rooms. I will repeat to you what I say to them. You don't have to like me.

Now, your post was inaccurate. Rev. Wright has never stated he wants a separate black country. In fact, there are whites in his congregation. I sent you a link for black liberation theology. Evidently, you did not read it. There are variants of this in other countries, particularly in South America, where, in the 1970's, many Catholic priests practiced liberation theology, until Pope John Paul II put an end to it. While there are many aspects to liberation theology which I personally disagree with, its concept is to uplift, using Christ's message. It is not about separation or violence. Rev. Wright's sermons are traditional not only in black churches, but also in many Southern Baptist traditions.

Obama has, in his short time in the Senate, sponsored many important bills. He has a ton of really great advisors behind him. And, if he is elected, many of those advisors will be drawn from the same pool as Bill Clinton's advisors.

In the end, I think Obama's manager, David Axelrod, ran a brilliant campaign. That cannot be said of Hillary's team. I do like Hillary, but her campaign was geared to polling, rather than allowing the "authentic Hillary" to be exposed. That is why she lost the nomination.
