I've posted more in the Bob Barr post because this topic is so freakin long! I mean no disrespect but I didn't get to read all 31 pages yet, I stopped around 12 because it was mostly about obsolete Hillary. So I apologize for not reading all responses.

Here are my ideas.
Dems are traditionally all about free handouts, equality, higher taxes, bigger government, isolationism, political correctness, and taking care of people whether they deserve it or not.

Reps are all about religion, lower taxes, bigger business, forceful liberty, and reducing the barriers which prevent a person from succeeding on his own.

Both systems will never change, party politics are too ingrained. They both have their flaws of course and what really gets me riled is that the media is far too biased to really represent the other parties. The people win when competition is encouraged to alter the ideas of a stagnant system.

The media portrays America in a multitude of crises and when this occurs the people vote for "change" which is why Obama is so highly touted. The problem is that the president doesn't really have as much power to change as people think. He's the executive but it's Congress that makes all the real decisions, unfortunately. Far too many people believe he’s going to pull our troops out of Iraq and bring them home ASAP. But in reality he’s going to listen to his generals who say to stay and finish the job. And even when it’s time to pull them out, he’s already voted to redeploy them to Afghanistan. So all these people who believe their loved ones are coming home soon with a vote for Obama are completed jaded.

On the flipside we have McCain who wants to pacify the Middle East by ourselves. I think it’s a noble cause but I think we should have worked harder to build a stronger alliance with the UN so this wouldn’t be all on us. The Iraqis need to stand up for themselves and take control, and they’re not going to do that with us over there protecting them. If we leave, there will be struggle. If we stay, there will still be struggle. That’s just how it’s been and the only people who will instigate the change are the oppressed, not the invaders. America was born out of the fires of oppression and struggle and we fought for our freedom against a powerful aggressor. Which country has achieved greatness through sheer diplomacy?

I take neither side fully; I am an independent that shares views with both parties though I’d have to say I’m more against Democrats than Republicans. I’m a 32 yr old white male agnostic living in South Carolina with a wonderful wife from Ukraine who is attending college here, and a good job just under $50k, and 2 paid off cars. We are responsible enough not to get over our heads in ridiculous debt, we understand the value of a decent wage and simple living, and are both healthy and happy. We’ve already experienced the heavy hand of immigration law and we’re proud that we stuck through all the mismanaged red tape and tedious documents and appointments and fees associated with getting this far, and to think that some people want increased government is just absurd to us.

I don’t think this nation’s biggest concern should be the war, the climate, or the possible religious beliefs or race of the candidates. It should be about Crime, pure and simple. We have become a nation that treats our criminals better than many of our citizens. We need to instill the fear back into those that would harm us on our own soil, and we need to punish those that facilitate them. Put a lock down on organized crime, gangs, and employers of illegal immigrants. I’m all for immigration (our country was founded on it), but tax them equally and stop providing them with perks and special interest groups. Welfare has become far too exploitable. If you reduce the crime and exploiters of the system, you have the money left over to work on climate, international affairs, and improving the quality of life for all citizens.

I’ve written enough of a book for one post and I welcome any questions, comments, or concerns you have.

I do apologize for the length. It could have been a lot longer had I elaborated properly on some issues. Let me summarize it for some people, Don't Vote Democrat, Vote Republican at your own risk.

Hi very nice post outback you sum up a lot of great points.

One view i have seen in this election more than any other is how both canidates for the most part are straight forward about what they want to change.
