I'm an American who feels as if we have gotten (see last parenthetical note). All three candidates are the same: completely amoral opportunists. It wouldn't matter if we had the three of them or eighteen political parties putting up amoral opportunists. This race is not about principles, positions or parties. It's about packaging and posturing. (I was graduated Magna Cum Redundant from the American Academy of Alliteration).

IF I bother to vote, I'll probably waste it on a protest vote.

And by the way, when an American politician uses the phrase "free trade," that's code for "a trade policy that looks like America is fighting back against the unfair policies of other nations, but won't upset them enough to make their policies worse."
Voting give the populace the opportunity to express their feelings, as long as people Don't vote the parties will continue to put forward the types of people they do. As long as people think their vote is a waste because of the candidates on offer all they are really doing is allowing a flawed system continue unchecked

Hillary and my new Prime Minister (Kevin Rudd) would be a good match. He salutes people for the most stupid reasons so they can stand in front of each other and just salute to their hearts content.

Since I live in the most Western point of Ukraine and I'm surrounded by the EU countries from all sides except the border with Ukraine high in mountains, I feel the European trends very well. The right-wing at the moment dominates in Germany, France, Italy and Spain and these are the founders of EU. So it dictates the political climate on entire continent.

I understand though the Australia has interest in US elections, it's quite naturally. Ukrainian interest for example is McCain but the choice should be made only by US citizens of course.

I still doubt how much the promised Obama's change will be. Consider this:

1) There is not such thing as "revolutionary" senator because senators belong to highest levels of establishment and establishment is never about the revolutions. So his "revolutionary" image is just theatre play and PR illusion.

2) Obama is organization man of Democratic Party and such people are bounded by corporative ideology. He will never go farer the democratic ideology allows if he will try to change something radically President is just the head of executive power. Fundamental changes go through the Congress and so he will need agreement of republicans and conservative democrats for his projects.

That's why it's hard to imagine his changes will go farer then it will be allowed by Democratic Party - and more then half of democrats resists him, I mean of course Clinton group. Anyway he will need their loyalty in Congress to implement his projects so the theatre battle between Obama and Clinton will end up the day he will become the President and then they just will begin to cooperate.

I need to be Extremely careful here. It is the height of arrogance for me to tell another country how their political system should work; even worse that I should take pot-shots at a country I love and pray for, and have insufficient knowledge of their system.

Having said that, I am extremely nervous about the future of the "west friendly" segment of Ukraine's parties. Their divisions could lead to a triumph for the Regions people. If the current President and P-M were of the same party, some more stability would be in evidence. The opposition seems quite skilled at "divide and conquer."

I would also point out that the Kyiv mayoral race looks to an outsider as if it'll become an "everybody has a voice, and little will be accomplished" scenario.

All systems are flawed. The point is to create and maintain a Working system...and a working system for one country may not be the best for another. Let America's system work for America, and Ukraine's work for Ukraine...and may we have the good sense to plagiarize appropriately.
