This is traditional braided hair-do, worn by Ukrainian women long before George Lucas, Star Wars and Hollywood hairdressers.

I heard a rumor that the braids are add ons and not the real deal. I have seen some video clips and Yuschenko does not have hair that long,but, if it appeals to the traditionalists, then why not.
Yep! I also remember my grandmother carrying her hair that way.
