That's strange that it got so cold so quickly. The Dnieper was wide open in all the channels when I was last there on Jan 10.
But there was a snow storm brewing..

How cold was it when you were there?

It got down to around 10f I think. No thermometer but just by feel and the sound of the snow squeeking when you walk on it. That was in Cherkassy south of Kiev about 2 1/2 hrs south. Kiev can feel very cold if the wind is blowing.
