Red face

Hi everyone. Thanks for looking in.
I'm having a real BAD time - and hopefully people out there with more "common sense" than me can give me some advice (?)

I met a girl from XEPCOH and (Boy!) did I fall in love with her! Sounds 'corny', but it's true.
We agreed she ought to come to England (where I live) and get married (etc.etc.)
Of course, I then sent her hundreds of dollars for Passport/Visa/ you name it, I paid for it.
And then - she vanished. Literally, dissapeared off the face of the Earth. Until now.
I had a letter from her. It appears, I was not her ONLY Fiance - and - she'd joined some kind of an "Agency" to see if she could (in her words) "upgrade".
Her letter, by the way, was posted from the U.S.A. She's recently got married - to a man "much better looking" than me who "earns SO much more than you ever will."
"I could never have been happy in England. Compared with America, it's such a LITTLE country."

Nice girl, eh?
It sounds like a 'plot' from the Jerry Springer show - and - (Ha!!) it wouldn't be a bad idea to get us all together (if Jerry happens to be reading!)
But, seriously, I feel SUCH a jerk.
Also, it's really "challenged" a lot of my opinions. Like everyone in England, I like America and Americans; but now every mention of 'that' country just fills me with this awful "jealousy" - and I feel ashamed of such a feeling!
How SHOULD I feel about such a 'betrayal' - and - about living in such a "little" country?
Should I try and find another Ukrainian girl?? (They really are SO beautiful).
Anyhow. That's my sad story. It feels better to be able to share it with other people.
Thanks for reading.

Steve.

Sorry to hear of your plight Steve, just consider yourself better off without her.It is obvious this "lady" was just after a one ticket out of Ukraine, and it didn't matter to her whom she hurt along the way, and apparently the bigger the wallet the better she liked it.
I would have thought the warning bells would have started ringing when you started spending hundreds of dollars on her. But then love is blind
Do not judge all girls from Ukraine on this one bad experience, they really are nice and genuine.
Good luck to you, and I hope next time around you have better luck in your choice of girls.

Hi Stephen,

What a story, but consider your self lucky. A woman like her probably wants to "upgrade" again in the future. It only cost you a few hundred dollars. It will cost the next guy half of his house and savings. I know a ukrainian woman like her, and everybody feels sorry for her husband. But I also know not so few ukrainian girls, who are nothing like it. So keep on looking or go to Ukraine. Just take a walk down the mainstreet and you will go crazy to see how beautiful the girls are and how many! That's one good reason not to live in the US. Of course there are pretty girls in the US too. There are just so few of them ...

I am really sorry that it happened to you. I am really embarrassed too, because of the fact that there are some people like that in my country. Well, I guess there's scum everywhere. Do not give up on Ukrainians though - not all of us are like that girl from XEPCOH ( nice spelling by the way )
Sincerely,
Olesya

Dear Olesya,

Thanks very much for your kind words!
I have just about 'sellotaped' my heart back together.

Yes. You're quite correct. I know that MANY people in Ukraine are wonderful. In fact, even though life is not easy, I would have moved to "XEPCOH"
I'm not "bitter" about my experience. Life's too short for that.
Thanks again.

A truly tragic story Stephen, but when one takes marriage so lightly disaster usually strikes. In your case sooner and for you quite fortuitously, rather than later.

Peace
