This question is for anyone who has posted topics here on "seeking Ukrainian woman", or
words to that effect.

It is this: How many of you would, rather than bringing a Ukrainian woman to your country and its "better" life, be willing to move to her country instead?

I await your answers, if anyone cares to take this one on.

Yeah !!!!!!!!! I'd like to take you on, regarding your question.

I made the stupid mistake of falling in LOVE with a Ukrainian woman. Not because she happened to be 20 years younger than me. She was 4 years younger than me.
I also wasted a year of my damned life learning the language AND I WAS prepared to move there. I visited XEPCOH, twice. It is (sorry, but true) a ghastly place; but I didn't care! I put up with the squalor and the dreadful food - because I loved her.

I can understand where your 'venom' comes from. Truly. All these guys (99% American) looking for a "trophy", a "Barbie-doll" younger and better-looking than they could "buy" in the States.
Well I wasn't.
Don't feel sorry for me though. I made the stupid mistake of thinking that relationships between Westerners and Ukrainians COULD be based on love. I was wrong.
That ain't the deal (as we say).

Anyhow. At least you've 'met' one person who WAS prepared to move there and try to build a life with someone they cared for.

I've learned my lesson.

My Mother often used to say:
"You can't buy love."
Crap.

Regards,

Steve B.

Hi Stephen,

I have read your other post in this forum, and am sorry you had this bad experience.

You say you were prepared to move to Kherson; how much time did you spend there, and did you actually make any inquiries into moving or was it always assumed the girl would go to your country?

Just curious, what did you find "dreadful" about the food?

D.

Red face

Why is everybody so pessimistic about western guys who marries a ukrainian girl, and picture these girls as very poor and in very big need?
I have been happily married with a ukrainian girl for 3 years now, and we have the cutest son. Her family was in no need of anything - her father is a retired russian general. Some of our friends are a danish-russian couple, and they both want to move BACK to Moscow. He met his wife in Moscow where he was rebuilding appartments for "newrussians" and made $6.000 a month after tax (there was no tax). He can't make that kind of money here, so they didn't marry or move because of money. Another couple we know comes from Sct. Petersbourg. Back there her poor family drives a Mercedes and 4WD. Do you think some of these girls married for money? Yet they still decided to move. Please do not say or think that ALL ukrainians or russians would do anything to live in the west.

I would like to move to Ukraine for some years, but Ukraine is a rotten country in many ways - sorry - but it's true. And for the very same reasons I love the country. No rules that can't be bended. Unfortunately you never know if you are lucky and know the right guys - or not. I know a dentist who was beaten up by mafia guys because of a 10$ dentist bill. Nothing he could do about it, other than call his own mafia guys. What kind of country is that!

And Stephen is right - the food IS dreadful. No color, no taste, milk that has a bad smell of cow not to mention the bread from the state owned berad factory!!! Last time we went to Ukraine I was to happy find out that McDonalds had opened three places in Lvov, so you don't have to go hungry to bed anymore - or bring you own food as I did. Our ukrainian hosts thought our food was dreadful by the way.

You prefer McDonalds over great Ukrainian bread? I can starve, but I won't eat at McDonalds, I cannot imagine worse "food" than the one you get there, I don't know, maybe it's better in Ukraine, but in NYC, McDonalds food does not compare to even Italian bread(Not talking about UA bread, which is my favorite source of food, not including cucumbers)

We all have different tastes... but McDonalds...

Good luck...

Hello nesmoht,

>>Please do not say or think that ALL ukrainians or russians would do anything to live in the west.<<

I don't know just who this was meant for; if it was me, I have never said that ukrainians as a whole would do anything to come to the west, though I'm sure some of them would. In fact, a friend of mine in Kyiv turned down a good job in the US when it was offered to him.

As far as the food goes, I have to agree with Stas;any thing but McDonalds!

What parts of Ukraine have you been to?
