looking for people in the Ukraine and Russia

Ever since university I' ve been fascinated with Russia, the Ukraine or more generally with what we then called 'the east.' Today I m still as ignorant about culture, language and lifestyle as I was back then. I always wanted to travel there but since my job only took me to places in the west, I could never find the time. Well, now I want to change all that and I have decided that I ll just take the time. It s not a very ambitious plan so far; I just want to travel to Russia and the Ukraine, grow to be a little more knowledgable about these countries and then take it from there┘who knows┘

Although I know very little about Russia and the Ukraine, I m quite well travelled and I have learned that if you don t know any people in the countries you visit, you will only see and learn a fraction of what you could have, had you been with someone who knows his way around. that is especially true if you do not speak the language. This is why I m why I m writing here. I would like get in touch with people who are willing to show me around where they live and who would have fun doing it. I m not too bothered about where your home is since if have no clear idea as to where exactly I want to go. Also, while I am interested in culture, history etc. I also love to have easygoing fun (i.e. go to bars, restaurants, dancing places and do whatever locals of about my age would normally do). Of course I would compensate you for your time and expenses but I am really looking for people who are genuinely interested in the idea of getting to know me a bit and to show me around. ideally I d like to find people who, at some point, I could consider as friends. if a some extra income helps you, great! but if the money is you primary motivation, we will not get along. Finally, I think it would probably be best if you were someone around my age just because our interests would be more likely to converge. However, if we get along, age really doesn't matter. Oh, sex, of course, doesn't matter either, however, I guess I should be honest and admit that I particularly enjoy female company. But again non of this is a must. They are merely suggestions to give you an idea what kind of person you re dealing with .

Let me just tell you very briefly about myself. I m 31 years old, born in Germany where most of my family still lives. However, I have moved around quite a bit (mostly within Europe) since I was 15 and I correctly live in London. I speak German, English and French fluently so if you speak any of these languages we should be OK. I also know some Dutch and Spanish but quite honestly I cannot hold a decent conversation in either of them. I'm neither extremely rich, handsome, intelligent or even funny, however, I have a good job that pays the rent and is even quite interesting, I don t look quite like Quasimodo, I can hold a conversation and even have occasional moments in which you could almost think that I m clever. As for being funny, well you know what they say about Germans and humour┘ I am however what I would call a liberal person. By that I mean that I do not judge people by their race, religion or their political orientation. In any case, I m not a very judgmental person anyway.
