Spravka - prrof of residence

Hi

I will shortly be applying for residence in Ukraine but have been told that I will need spravka to confirm my current address in UK.

I have a letter confirming my address on electoral register but have been told that they cannot accept it in this format and that this should be a document from the government.

I have no idea how to get this. An idenity card would be ideal but these will not be issued in the UK until after 2009.

Any ideas?

I think it is an example of how state regulations do not match. In Ukraine it is an ordinary practice to get such spravka/dovidka. You go to a local government and take it. There is no problem.

You need a confirmation of your permanent residency but it should be verified by your local government. Don't they give such papers in the UK? If not, I am sure someone here in Ukraine must go and ask all details. It is still a very serious document here and you will need it very often.
