Hi everyone
I am new to these boards and I am interested in making some friends from the Ukraine. I find the language fascinating and would like to be able to speak it fluently
Hope to hear from someone soon!

Hi Irina
I am from the United States and I live in the state of Iowa.
Its a small state in the middle of the country.
I have become interested in the Ukraine because a few of my favorite hockey players are from Kiev.

I have one question. Is slovak the most common language spoken in the Ukraine

Slovak is a language of the Slovak Republic...
In Ukraine, the main language is Ukrainian, but most Eastern and Southern Ukrainian cities have many Russian-speaking people

Yes, I have heard of Iowa, which city or town do you live in?
I'm nuts about the NHL, do your favorite hockey players play for NHL? If yes, which teams?
My favorite Ukrainian NHL players are Zhitnik and Yushkevich

Irina

GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!

Thanks for the info irina. I had a friend tell me that most Ukranians spoke Slovak. Oh well guess that means I will have a new language to study...Ukranian. I know a little Slovak because we had a hockey player on the area hockey team from Slovakia and I tried to help him and make his first time being in the US a good one. The hockey team that I am a fan of is the Quad City Mallards of the UHL ( United Hockey League ).

A few of the players from the Ukraine that I like are:

Sergei Deshevyy ( Kalamazoo Wings, UHL )
Vlad Serov ( ex Mallard, now with Greensboro Generals of the ECHL )
Konstatin Simchuk (ex Fort Wayne Komets, UHL )

Vlad and Konstatin actually played for the Ukranian team at Salt Lake 2002. I have all their games on tape. Not sure what Simchuk is doing right now actually
