WHY DO TURKS WRITE IN THIS MESSAGE BOARD?.. i'm not really looking for a penpal persay or anything, just thought i'd write a note in here. i was born in ukraine, lviv, and i really dislike all the russian speaking fools who choose to call themselves ukrainian, particularly those who live in easter ukraine, kyiv and all the other god forsaken towns there. if anyone else shares my disgust for the russians and for the ukrainians that can't even speak the ukrainian language, write back in here or something.

i guess i could bless someone by being their pen pal, you have to be a girl though, around 21, and ukrainian. you may contact me at ir77@aol.com.

Unhappy

I agree with you.

I was born in England and have always lived here. But my perants brought me up as a Ukrainian. I was tought to talk, read and write in Ukrainian (although admittedly my Ukrainian languages could do with brushing up). I have always be involved in the Ukrainian community in Britain.

A few years ago we went to visit our family in Western Ukraine. It was great. I really enjoyed being in Ukraine talking to my family. I got on find and had very few problems with my Ukrainian.

However when we got to Kyiv it was a different story. I couldn't understand people, some people couldn't understand my Ukrainian (even though the Western villagers had no problems). To hear everyone speaking Russian ten years after becoming independant. Everyone celebrates our freedom from Russia, yet many continue to live "the Russian way." It's time Ukraine moved on.

I'm sure with time, as the youngsters who were born in independant Ukraine things will change, and it will be Ukrianian we hear in the streets of Kyiv and not Russian. It may be a couple of generations before this changes but I'm sure it will happen eventually.

No, its time for the stupid Ukrainian men like you to stop beating your wives and drinking vodka, learn English, trade with the West and earn more than $15.00 per week, you moron.

I speak Russian with many Ukrainian friends. These are people who are ambitious, positive and intelligent.

But, Iridium, thanks to drunks like you I get a wife from Ukraine. Hell, 2 years ago I couldn't tell you the difference from Ukraine and Russia and Belarus. Too busy making $2000.000 a month in USA.

You guys are dumbasses. Good luck to you. Everytime I cash $15,000 checks for building houses in a month I'll think of you poor drunkards fighting over whether you are Russian or Ukrainian or not while I F**k a wife from Sevastopol.

You stupid bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ricknorth,

To me you appear to be a very arrogant, narrow-minded, prejudice, stupid, desperate and racist man!

1. Beating wives

Unfortunately this is a problem. But you cannot generalise this to Ukrianian men. It is a worldwide problem that I very much condemn Recently a study in the UK revealed some alarming statistics about wife beating. I can’t see how you accuse me of wife beating since at the age of 19 I have never been married. I have never harmed a woman nor will I ever!

2. Drinking Vodka

This is one of many problems Ukraine has inherited from Russia. Undeniably many Ukrainian men are drunkards. However it is wrong to say that all Ukrainian men should “stop drinking vodka.” I know many Ukrainians who never drink vodka. There are many like me who occasionally have a drink (for the record I have drank quarter of a bottle of vodka in the last two months).

3. Learn English

You must be absolutely stupid, we are writing in English you thick bastard!!!!!
Why should Ukrainians learn English? This is such a narrow-minded opinion. Open your eyes pal.

4. Trade with the West

I can half agree with you. Links with the west are important, and I’m sure many links are established. However Ukraine has only been independent for ten years, it takes a long time to establish these links.

5. Only earning $15.00 per week.

This is another indication of your narrow mindedness and thoughtlessness. Many Ukrainians work long and hard to feed their family. They earn little money because of the economic conditions in Ukraine. This is a very difficult area and only the government of Ukraine can sort out this issue. It will take time but I hope this issue is sorted. You seem to have written off Ukraine and its population. Not everyone can leave to the USA, Canada, the UK or any other rich nation. But we must not condemn the population of Ukraine to a life of hard work earning $15 a week. Stop showing off about earning $15,000 a month, you should be grateful you are so fortunate. You should not be so prejudice against people who are worse off then you through no fault of there own (in many cases they are more able and more intelligent then you), but their circumstances do not allow them to prosper the way you have.

6. Ukrainian or Russian.

You obviously did not read our argument properly your obsession with slagging of Ukraine and Ukrainians. Let me explain again. Ukraine is an independent country with its own language. I’m hurt to hear Ukrainians in Kyiv and other eastern cities speak the language of our perpetrators. It is time Ukrainian was spoken across Ukraine. We are not wasting our time arguing over this, we are just stating our opinion.

Now, if you have anything constructive or half intelligent to say, please reply otherwise keep your trap shut.

You arrogant bastard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Martyn

P.S. Iridium’s “less than intelligent reply” made far more sense than your nonsense.

Martyn, you are a great boy, you are right and I proud of you...
But I'd like to add.
I am Ukrainian girl. My former husband never beat me and I don't know these cases among my friends. A new generation are not keen on vodka...I can see it... I speak Russian and Ukrainian language fluently. Without problems.
I can speak even with west accent!
English...I can write a little and speak! I can read French! and a little speak.
I earn less than averige American...But I am the poorest in my apartment house! Many of my neighbours have a rest abroad!
But this is not the main things...Ukraine has its own soul...Soul...ok I have no time. Next time I will finish writing.
