Hi guys
I hope someone can offer a little advice. Being single allows me throw some things in a bag and go to the airport - which I did recently (but with a little more planning) as I had always wanted to visit Kiev and go down to the Black Sea. I ended up in Yalta and struggling with the language, managed to find somewhere to sleep. Ordering food was proving just as difficult until a young lady offered to help. She was from Sumy and on holiday with her sister. Needless to say we spent a lot of time together. This was in August and after many telephone calls I asked if she would like to visit UK. I contacted UK embassy in Kiev and requested procedure and documents required. I gathered the necessary documents and e-mailled them directly to Kiev and my friend made a appointment for an interview. After 10 minutes they refused visa saying they did not believe the way we met and because she could not pronounce my surname. She speaks english well but has probably only heard my surname a few times and has never had the need to pronouce it!! Anyway, I visited again last weekend and we sought advice from the consular section of the embassy who told us that if we continue correspondence for a further six months and retain proof of correspondence the we can re-apply for visa and we have a 50/50 chance it will be granted. Needless to say I'm finding this very frustrating. Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks in anticipation. Mark |
