My opinion: XVIII - federalists are the best (Washington) XIX - republicans are the best (Lincoln, abolishment of slavery) XX/XXI - democrats are the best (trying to stopcold war, being against war in Iraq) |

Quote:
democrats were not against the war. now, they once again show partisan politics by flip-flopping and failing their constituents by undermining Bush. What did the democrats do to try and stop the cold war? Johnson escalated our involvement in Viet Nam from a handful of troops in 1965 to 500,000 troops by 1968. 300,000 more troops than Bush has sent to Iraq. Difference between dems and republicans at fighting wars: dems fight with nickels and dimes, causing loss of American lives. Rebpublicans fight with $100 dollar bills assuring quick and decisive victory. Personally, I prefer the Whig Party.

It still amazes me how totally politically naive americans are. Just because its in the popular press or because your local imbecile TV reporter says it does not make it correct. Because the "opposition" (Rick, you do understand that word I hope) voices the majority of americans dissatisfaction with the way the administration is handling the current policies in Iraq, that view becomes to non thinkers "partisan politics".
I look forward to the day when the average american will think for himself and not quote the ill informed media, then perhaps the world will not have to tolerate leadership like Bush, controlled by people like Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfiwitz. Its about time americans understood that when they elect their president they are in fact electing the most powerful and influencial leader in the world. We dont like that fact, but it is nontheless true. How much I look forward to the day that the average american understands that responsibility, and takes the trouble to learn at least a little bit about the world they live in. Len |

Yes americans I mean that. The person you put into the White House is going to have a major impact on all of us in the world. Its OK for you to consider only your parochial and domestic needs when you elect him/her but the rest of the world has to pay the price for your choice. You have a major responsibility to the rest of us whether you want, or ask, for that responsibility or not. We, unfortunately, are dependant on the wisdom and your understanding of the choice you make.
