So.....there is not one nation there, but 3. And each ethnicity should be allowed to break away sovereignly?
In this country this is called racism. It is illegal. It is illegal because it is immoral.

Oh dear, I have just no idea where to start responding to that tyrade. Fortunately its Coca Cola's job to teach the world to sing, not mine.
When you decide to do what you say you do, I would be happy to continue this discussion. In case you have forgotten its....think before you type. Len |

Just to encourage you a little, perhaps you would be kind enough to expain what you think is liberal about these comments I made...
terrorists do not function freely in an absolute dictatorship none of the arab nations want an arab democracy Iraq has only been a sovereign nation since the western allies made it so after WW1 The american public has been very ill served by their education system |

Mr. Rick,
As for me, Hussein and some of his myrmidons are no doubt to be executed. But it concerns only numerousless "top". People don't have to respond for their leader who doesn't ask them. This war can't be justified with "terrorism" (it is, in my humble opinion, about oil) - even if it was spread in Iraq, too many civilians perished thanks to your army. |

Kathy,
Very close but not quite. My comment about the three seperate nations is more about the reqional loyalties that historical the people have maintained even with integrated religious elements. They were an integrated society with religious tolerance long before we even knew the words. This is the main reason why the south eastern (marsh arabs), rose up after Gulf 1, and were brutally put down by Saddam. The northwestern mountain peoples (mostly Kurds) have always operated with a degree of autonomy and have never accepted rule from Bagdad. The actions of Ibn Saud, in arabia, and the collapse of the Turkish influence after WW1 encouraged the western allies to group the regions of Babelonia together to control the developing oil industry. Ibn Saud had successfully combined most of the arabian peninsula to form Saudi Arabia, the allies had control of the northern areas, with outposts in Yemen (Aden) and at the southeastern end (Trucial Oman states). One move they wisely made was to exclude the outlets (Kuwait, Qutar, Baharain) for this oil from inclusion in Iraq. Historically these areas have never been a united nation, and so Iraq (as a nation) is another of those stupid things the Allies did with little or no understanding of the region. We did it with Lebanon, Jordan, Yugoslavia, Greece/turkey/Cyprus, and each time it has come back to haunt us. Iraq is just one more in a continuing line of blunders. But, its not just us, the Russians did the same and created artificial republics, now these decisions are biting them in the ass. Len |
