Hi All! How are things with you guys there?
Is there any kind person to answer my question as to
driving in Ukraine?

The Russians are allowed to drive in Ukraine with their
Russian drive licence OR they have to bring their
international drive licence?

It would be highly appreciated if any one could give me
the right information.

Spaseebo!

Kenny with hugs.

Kenny,

I've been a number of times and always rent a car. Initially I got an international license, but it has such a limited period of validity I decided to risk doing it with my US license. Guess what, they didnt care, as long as it has a picture on it I dont think they give a damn.
The reality of it is that every time the police stop you you are going to pay a fine for something (speeding etc, or for just being there). Dont get too excited the fine (bribe) is about three bucks, depending how well you negotiate, I've not heard of anyone paying as much as ten bucks. Things are changing daily with the trafic police so it may be even easier this month but I doubt it.
Even the rental companies only want to see your home license. But an international license costs pennies so if you are not travelling all the time you might as well get one for this trip anyway.

Thumbs up

Privet Len! Thanks for your kind advice. Yeah Actually my Russian friend comes to Kiev and we will travel some cities in Ukraine together. I will advise her to bring her Russian and International drive licence as well to Ukraine.
Thanks Len!
Cheers,
Kenny

Dont worry about it. If you can drive you should have no problems.
As a point of reference, its not as crazy as Moscow, Cairo, Paris, Singapore or London. But crazier than Berlin, Warsaw or New York. Tell us where you are from and maybe we have experience of your points of reference.

I'm in the San Francisco bay area of northern California, or No Cal, as we like to call it. I think renting a car would be the most efficient way to get around. Especially if you don't speak the language very well. My biggest fear would be getting into an accident.
