Near Ukraine
Gretings Dobko,
Luck is placed near Poland's border. I do not know much about the area. My family lived in a village near Rovno (to the east of Luck) before the War. A colleague of mine has very sad remembrance of Luck surroundings, wartime tragedy you might imagine. I am beginning my holiday on Monday for a week. For a nice promise, we had crazy temperatures of 37 deg C in Warsaw and a wild thunderstorm in the evening. Then, at about mid-August I am going to Polissya/Polesie, somewhere near Wlodawa on Bug river. I have some plans to visit Ukraine for a while. I though about Svityaz lake but I still have not made up my mind yet. I prefer not to use my car abroad, the best solution would be to cross the border on bike! |

I hope you enjoy your holidays, Zby.
There is an old church about 40 kms from here and about 5 kms from where I grew up. It was called Yaroslaw Church and was Ukrainian Orthodox. I'll see If I can find the link again. You can take your car into Ukraine and travel much easier now, no more road checks Mikita says.

One day in Ukraine
Quote:
I have just finished a part of my holidays. We spent one interesting day in Ukraine. After a long deliberation I decided to go there by car this time. I was lucky to be there at a time where there were no long lines at the border (normally you have to spend there a few hours unless you decide to use "alternate solution" and grease someone's palm. I was assisted by a kind Ukrainian lady who helped us much. We were in Luboml and then on Svityaz lake which is really beautiful (they say Gagarin used to spend his holidays on tiny island on the lake). I collected some impressions which I am going to share them with you as sson as possible. Forest, I was in Brus Nowy again and made friends with a nice family there. The woman was born in Ukrainian family. They showed me exactly the place where the house of your Dad stood. Now, there is a garden there. The most of old khatas in Brus Nowy are gone now. |
