Patriotism.........

Hi, guys
Can anybody give me a difinition of a "PATRIOT"? What does it mean for you to be a patriot of your country ( whatever the country might be)?

I have accepted easily and unreservedly the principles of freedom and responsibility upon which the strength and enduring qualities of my country Canada depend on. I try to respect these qualities and appreciate it.

Would I die for my country? Heck no! For my children, yes. I would rather live for my country and my children.

What concerns me are the so called "White Supreme" or "White Power" "KKK" fanatical groups that set aside morality and mask their racism behind the patriotic banner for God and Country.

These monomaniac zealots hold secret meetings and activities and dress up and play act in military fashion proclaiming patriotism.

I am more what you would call devoted rather than patriotic. You know, duty, honour, and so forth - up to a point.

Well, thats a good subject

For me Patriotism means that you would do "almost" anything for your country, if needed die for your country, respect it, protect it, love it, know its history and try to make other people patriots too. You can't be patriot of two countries, you have to choose, I chose Ukraine! I don't care about america, even though I live in it.

I myself would have died for my Ukraine for sure(if needed)

I think I am a patriot of Ukraine & would like to see the people of Ukraine free & happy. I might live far away from my Homeland, but if there would be a need for me to come back & fight for it, I think I would do it.
To Lilly:
I don't think the members of "KKK" are really patriots of their country. They might call themselves it, but they are just a bunch of racists.
For me, being a patriot means to love your Country & have respect to others.

Did you truly read what I wrote?

I never said they are patriots, only that they mask their racism under the patriotic banner.

Please reread my posting and do not make assumptions of something that I did not say.
