Has anyone been thruogh a hospital in Ukraine? I have. They are in dire need of medicines (antibiotics, cancer treatments, etc.). I have toured western Ukraine several times, and am a member of SARA (Sharing America's Resources Abroad); we have a physician exchange program with Ukraine, and make several rips a year to Zacarpatska oblast. There is much work to be done there. Hospitals receive no finanial aid from the government; only humanitarian aid keeps the hospitals going. Write me for more info.

I want to explain what SARA (Sharing America's Resources) is about. It is a medical mission, ecunemical, but works with all faiths, through the UCC. Over the past years we have brought over dozens of surgeons to the states for training, and have delivered literally tons of medical supplies to western Ukraine. We establish personal, one-to-one relationships with hospitals. We are always collecting medical supplies, medicines, vitamins, equipment, and of course, we always need funding. There is no paid staff; just volunteers, many of whom are not Ukrainians. We travel to Ukraine several times a year.
I want to point out though, that I have several reasons for doing this. First, I am of Ukrainian blood. Both my parents are from Halychyna. Second, the need there is real, and urgent. Third, and most important, is that God calls us to help one another, without question as to location; I have been blessed in many ways; giving of my time, talents and resources is just a natural part of a Christian's life. I think it is unusual for someone not to help. Please e-mail me for more information. |
