What do you thik of Ukranian immigrants & 1st generation Ukies?

I am USA born, 100% Ukrainian. The USA may have a lot to offer, maybe more than any other country but, I'm proud to be Ukranian! Most Americans have no idea what a Ukranian even is. They think we are Russian or Polish. You're right about the culture and the language slipping away. I myself have forgotten much of the language.

I would like to eduacate myself in the Ukranian language but there aren't many avenues. Hang tuff Ukies I'll talk to you later.

I noticed that old immigrants know a lot of culture: songs, costumes, customs and all that, that we forgot. They talk with funny accent too...

I try to speak with my children in Ukrain, but they only understand, and can say a few words... They speak Basque and Spanish, but not Ukrain...

Hello - I am an immigrant who came to USA and my children are first generation Americans. My husband is also an immigrant. - What do I think of them - truthfully - I think our parents instilled in us a good sense of work ethic - not like the immigrants from Ukraine today - who ever even thought of welfare and fancy cars????!!!. Our parents were not concerned about working in a factory or cleaning - it was a job and it paid honest money. I am involved in my Ukrainian commnunity and see that the new immigrants have a very different want and goal - and they do not have the work ethic we were taught - they want it for free. No?
