Greetings people, I would like to know what music you like to listen to. I personally like two opposite kinds of music, I like Ukrainian folk music, and I like really heavy metal.

Okay, my contribution. I like jazz and classical, within ranges of each. Folk music, all kinds. I have a lot of stuff on vinyl from the "folk era." I like Mariya Kirilyuk, and have several of her albums. I like "Smerichka."

Hello Stas,
What instrument is used in Ukraine for folk
music. Is it the Balalaika? Or is it the
Accordion or the Violine? In Hungary it is the Violine. Most of our folk music is performed by Gypsy Musicians. All good restaurants have Gypsy Bands that play during dinner hours and beyond. They will come to your table and play their hearts out.
My favorite is the MATYAS PINCE. Excellent food, excellent wine list and a never ending
supply of Barack Palinka. Be sure to stop in
if you are ever in Budapest. That goes for everybody. Almost forgot, Raspberry Strudel
for dessert. I am ready go right now, how about you?
Good Luck.
Ps. I am ticked off that nobody responded to
my Kolbasz (sausage) teaser.

B. Ungaro, guess what?

In my town the Hungarian group called Chardash is comming and I would like to see it. Have you heard of them? Are they any good. They are touring North America.

Regards,

Two of my favorite instruments are the balalaika and the violin. The violin crys in the gypsy's hands and makes me cry. Hungarian gypsy music sends me.

The balalaika is so moving and tender. I blew hundreds of roubles in Moscow just to listen to Russian songs that made tears come to my eyes. I danced and danced, drank vodka and got sick as a dog. Loved every minute of it!

A total mixture of Nirvana, Bush and jazz. Plus some Bregovic's and Romanian and Serbian folk music.

And sometimes in Krakow at the Market Square there is this young girl in traditional Ukrainian clothes playing balalaika. I love it. I might stand there and listen to her playing for hours...

It's not my cup of tea all these kobzas, balalaikas, domras as the whole style of folk music. I like hard rock. But it would be very nice to listen to some old folk Ukrainian or Russian song in rock sound. It somehow might turn lots of "rockers" to folk music.
