You know, I heard so many people and so many opinions. Frankly Speaking, I am really disappointed. Somebody told you that Russian army kills Chechen citizens. Who told that?!
Do you know that all Chechen citizens (no matter what nationality are they) thank Our Army for destroying these terrorists because this little country had no law and order for three years. Children couldn't study! Of course this bezpredel should be stoped using Regular Russian Army! One person said, I don't remember where, may be on www.russia.com, may be on www.ukraine.com, that Chechnya as Ukraine must be free. I agree that Ukraine should be free because our nationalities are different a little bit. But your country has democratic government and president. You have a lawful departments. But What is Chechnya?! Do you want a bandit to be a President. (I don't think that Mashadov is a bandit, my opinion is he is ruled by Hattab and Basayev) But What will happen with people which live there?! I tell you what! They will become slaves. There were many slaves during that period 1996-1999 yy. I don't know what is said by West Mass Media but Russian Army never killed and never will kill peacefull people. You can write me on <ogiyenko@mail.ru> My best regards! |

I'm sorry but I can't agree with you. Do you think that when a bomb falls down it chooses who's "peacefull" and who's not?
And is aggression the only way of keeping Chechenya with Russia? I don't think so... We had the same situation in Kosovo (however, the world community acted then, I don't know why it doesn't act now!). Also there the "peacefull" people were never killed. Or? Regards, Beata |

I agree with you, Sakhman...
I read a lot about the events there...and I have my opinion about it. Whoever is interested you can check the site www.kp.ru it is the newspaper on line that gives a regular update on the events there (from their correspondents). You can check the real events (not the US media version). Ukraine is different from Chechnya, it should not be compared. Nobody is killing civilians... |

First of all thank you for posting you replies!
To Beata: You are absolutely right about the bomb and Our Air Force Commander said that peaceful people can die, but only because of accidents. You've said that in Chechnya we have the same situation like in Yugoslaviya. I can't agree with this fact at all. At first, NATO attacked the Lawful government we can't say so about Chechnya. Their government are terrorists. At Second NATO was not able to make peace in Kosovo even after the war, I know that Serbs die there even now, after 5 month. But in Chechnya, in some regions, where is already no any terrorists, people can live without thinking that their children can die very soon, without thinking that nobody will steal their ownership. To Marina_555: thank you for understanding! My best regards to everybody! |

Of course, there is always lots of propaganda when a war takes place! And there are different "Truths". The Russian side will have its own version, so will the Chechenyan, American, etc. But I personally trust what I see on the Polish TV, in our newspapers, which rarely include the American material. And I see lots of refugees, displaced people, small kids crying, their homes destroyed. And of course many casualties. On both sides.
You see, you can't hurt so many people because some terrrorist groups exist on the given teritory! Aren't there any other ways to crack down on those who are claimed to be terrorists? I am sure there are. It's just that the Russian political system, its militia and police are too weak. And i have to explain myself about Yugoslavia. Of course NATO bombings did a lot of bad too and did not stop the whole violance. Maybe the Timoresan example would be better than the Yugoslav one. What I meant is, not why the international community didn't react with force but eg. through negotiations, hard talks and so on... But if the situation in Chechenya goes on like that I might start thinking about force too. for the innocent people's sake. Regards, Beata |

Sakhman, you are obviously a very decent person, and this discussion points out that decent people often disagree, but it frequently is on the basis of the "facts" we are presented. I watched Vremya every day while NATO was bombing Kosovo, and comparing the news coverage from the US and Russia ... one would think we were looking at two different wars. The same thing in Chechnya, unfortunately. Russians certainly don't intend to bring harm to innocent civilians, and NATO didn't intend to harm civilians in Belgrad. But it is war, and bombs, as someone said, don't discriminate. The truth in Chechnya is probably somewhere in between: a lot of civilians are getting killed in the process of wiping out terrorists. Russia dare not present that on the news, just like they denied the massacre of Russian soldiers in Grozny, witnessed by very impartial and experienced journalists from both Reuters and Associated Press, who are not "spies for terrorist factions" as Putin tried to say. And America tried to present a clean face regarding its destruction in Belgrade. It is all very sad, but very normal in the conduct of war. There are no nice wars, and no one ... no one ... tells the truth about them. I hope you live a long life and never have to take up a gun on behalf of the political ambitions of old men. You are a good person, and so are the Russian soldiers, and so are the citizens of Grozny, and so are the Serbs and so are the Kosovars. It is terrible what people do to people. But be careful of believing the claims of warriors. They lie to protect their souls.
Best regards, John |
