I'm in an internet cafe in the Kiev Borispil Airport. Just left Sevastopol. Last nite discussed with several Sevastopolzami (?) that in America ****bag places like South Dakota pull flyover folk off of I-90 with crapola like four heads of dead pres. carved in a hill, a palace made out of corn, and the infamous Wall Drug.
My point to them, Sevastopol is a Gold Mine for tourism for its rich, long history on the Crimea. Still the home of the Black Sea Fleet. A City with old buildings but fun to move about with its twisting, hilly, sometimes cobblestone streets. The city can capitalize on Old Churchs to view, panoramic views EVERYWHERE, a burgeoning waterfront restaurant and bar business, and Russian Soldiers everywhere (make the soldiers march in formation, make the soldiers march in formation). Beaches, abundant fresh catch seafood, mild winters, friendly and beautiful people....etc.
Sevastopol needs a strong City Tourist Bureau with a consistent strategy to keep the decor of the city looking old, strong, and maritime-like. Beats the hell out of stopping in london to see a big clock, or paris to see a metal tower.
