I have just met some wonderful people from the Ukraine. Their English is limited and they are trying to get acclimated to life in the U.S. Does anyone have any information about comparisons between costs of goods in the U.S. and Ukraine, for example the cost of a dress or shoes? Thanks.

The comparisons are difficult - in Ukraine I thought that ladies fashion wear was expensive and that traders were trying to make a killing with their prices hence the practice of buying second hand clothes etc which are of course less expensive. Your friends may well be happy with some of the prices in the US. Last week I paid $40 for a pair of ladies shoes which were not of particularly good quality but were "fashionable" - in UK they would have been less maybe $15.

cost of goods
Thanks for the info. My friend has been turning to me asking if prices are reasonable (compared to what she is used to in Ukraine) and I am unsure how to respond. If prices are reasonable in US dollars I can tell her, but I'm never sure how they compare to what she is used to. She has comments, however, about the better quality she is finding in the US retail stores.
