Jean Poutine (or is that Chretein?) recently (this week) made a statement that under his term, that legalization of Mary Jane would not be doable. It seems though, that after discussion has been picking up for the last few months, that legalization is inevitable. Joe Clark ( the friggin' Conservative leader) even supports it- he should now on be referred to as "smoky joe".
I am decidedly not in support of legalization of pot. I have seen what it does to a lot of my classmates, and they need something else than pot. Like goals- a five year plan perhaps. Although medicinal use has been the banner talk, Joe Clark has changed the direction of the ship and argues that if youth gets a criminal record because he/she was carrying a little pot, then there is something wrong with the system. Good lord, it seems inevitable. |

Legislation is in process right now to legalize it for medicinal purposes: People who suffer from Lupus, cancer patients, and some neurological disorders to name a few.
LillyNomad p.s. I never took illegal drugs in my life but I feel it should be legalized to smoke it in your home - no where else. The same with alcohol. LillyNomad

What about legalization of prostitution?
I have no intent of ever going to a 'brothel', but for the government to ignore the problem is wrong. We as a nation turn our backs on the young women who get into this profession for whatever reason. It is the "worlds oldest profession" and it is not going away anytime soon. By ignoring it, we are part of the problem. Shaking our finger and saying it is wrong is not going to solve it. However, if it were to be legalized, and had for example, an institution outside of the city, where medical examinations were made regular, and took the women out off the streets, and away from the abuse of men, the sitution would be better. It would also keep children out of it. Jesse Ventura actually was one of the first politicians of recent years to bring the subject back up, and once again we hear it on occasion. This unlike pot, has no chance of occuring soon, but by stating this, I am saying that we are ignoring something very serious, and by are own nature are guilty of a crime far greater. |

Lilly that would be a good idea, to have it only legal in your home. Alchohol is very much a social drug, and to remove it from bars would be interesting. But, having Marijuana legal only in homes is something different. In Amsterdam (how could you have a discussion without it?) you go into a coffee shop setting, and are not allowed to leave carrying any of the drug out.
Having the drug legal only in homes makes it accesable to children and others who have no reason to be taking it. ??? |

People who has M.S. says that the best relief they is gettin' is when they is doing a splif. And the effect doesn't have any of the side effects of drugs from the doctor.
Seems that if it help it should be legal. Love the NZman
