I have taken Austrian Airlines from Toronto to Vienna on my trip to Odessa. I couldn't believe how amazing the service was, they fed and gave us drinks almost every half an hour of the 9.5/hour trip! There were 10 free movies and games to chose from, free magazines and you can also borrow pretty good books to read ranging from World History to Romance (yuck
)! Also, the actual quality of food was great, they served grilled chicken, grilled fish, nicely prepared vegetables..etc..whatever you chose is yummy..Also, the airplane had cameras of the front and bottom view of the flight, so each passenger can see the view outside of the plane clearly even if they're not sitting by the window. Also, from Vienna to Odessa I thought I would be flying Austrian Airlines, since it said so in my ticket, but what do you know???!!! When time came to boarding, they dropped us off right in front of Air Ukraine plane! Brrrr They seem to have a mutual airline contract, so yours truly had no choice but to board the plane and shut up.. ![]() Well, the flight on Ukrainian plane was not as bad as I thought it would, even though the plane was tiny, there was lots of leg space, the service was great (minus the strange mess they call food..nothing Ukrainian about it), and the quality of flight was great, excellent landing! By the way, I was travelling Economy class this time ![]() Great experience.

Then we're definately going to Odessa
![]() Where do you live now? Do you speak Russian/Ukie? I realized that on $1,000 US you can live like a King for 3 weeks in Odessa, but you don't even need that much lol Another scary thing I realized there, that women outnumber men 20 to 1 and the remaining men are spoiled silly by that reality HAHA Also, the Black Sea beaches have been restored and cleaned for the past 8 years, so to swim in The Black sea is heaven..water is as clean as when I used to live there 12 years ago. One bad thing is Odessa Airport!! I had 6 bags when I was leaving the city, and when I was going through their customs, one of the workers came up to me and started to whisper.. Anyway, he said that I'm obviously carrying more stuff than it is permitted (there was absolutely nothing wrong with my baggage!!) and that if I do not give him some money, he will search my bags and will make me pay a fine! This bastard had balls to talk to me this way, he must have noticed my Canadian passport since he only stopped me out of 70 other people! So I prepared myself for a good verbal ellimination, but realized that even though this guy is insolent beyond belief, he probably has a family to feed and they do not pay him much..probably not more than $70 US a month, so I gave him $5 US and he smiled and sent me on my way, even carried my bags to the waiting area! Jeez haha Lot's of fun experiences in Odessa, but I'm a pro now ![]() [Edited by Irinka on 27th May 2001 at 13:41]

Just the discussion of going gets me excited as I already have a visa form at the ready. See ya soon. Stardust |

hi
Hello,
The women over in Ukraine scare me for some reason and I'm not quite sure why? Must be something to do with being the backbone of there country. If the men are drunk it serves logical that the woman has to figure out how to survive. In any case I think I would have a great time as long as I maintained an "under the radar approach". Meaning to be polite and not render myself without manners. "Damn I wanna go"....lol Stardust |
