Indeed, there was a terrible empty feeling in my tummy when things went KABOOOOOM!!!! Then a deathly silence. Breath was held. Wild imaginings became the tyrant of the mind. God forbid! Had they finally killed each other?

Now, as you say, they are again testing the premise of whether that man or that woman can long endure, the poisonous barbs of outrageous conduct. Or shall they become one, and like Prometheus do a fiery death spiral to the earth?

Was it love they had or was it a dream of love? One cannot belong to the other if the truly one belongs to itself.
I think she had dreams and aspirations of love and hope. He had memories so rich that even fresh bread made long lines not exist.
To be tested and captured by Lilly was an easy task for her as she had done so many times before. "to know me is to love me". Literally speaking I suppose the dear John letters flowed like tears in an orphanage.
One wonders what fate awaits those that make hastily driven decisions to seek a reality full of genuine independece but coated with the urge for money from lovers?

Tis was a dream of love, no doubt. now gone, and only injured things remain. They both did ride upon their dreams and aspirations as though such delicate things were mighty steeds. And O how they longed to love. But nay said that fearful master Fate.

Connected by wires we met one night
seemingly empty loneliness in sight
I searched endlessly for someone who
has so many qualities such as you do

This woman I met she has been so true
day and night I think of you
your caring, honesty and belief
has been such a much needed relief

My searching has come up with despair
