the way moderation works on plastic is totally different. they have multiple moderators evaluating posts. moderators neither delete posts nor edit them, they can only grade them with 1 grade per post, either positive or negative. if you are a member, your posts get grade 1 by default. moderators can either upgrade or downgrade you. if your grade gets moderated down below 0, it will put you below the default filter level and make your post invisible to most people, yet they can still view it if they want to. you'd have to get at least 2 linas and noone appreciating your writings to filter you out of the default listings.

And, say, how do they nominate qualified moderators? How do they test them?

moderators are chosen randomly from active discussion participants. they start with giving you 2 days to moderate and 10 grades to distribute. moderators can actually fight over contraversial posts some downgrading them and some upgrading, resulting in an average (usually above 0). lina wouldn't have much play there.

the problem with plastic is that the discussions are mostly related to current american events and politics. i don't know if lina would be interested in politics.
