Hey People!
No one really knows where Pierogies (Perogies) originated from. !Please don't argue! I was wondering what other customs are found in Poland, Ukriane and Russia that are similar. What foods are consumed that you could find in Ukrainian, Polish or Russian tables?

Well Pisankas are one (Easter Eggs) you could find them in all three countries. What other things?

What the heck is your problem Irena? Colture and politics are too different things. You don't see people blaming every Ukrainian for Chernobyl. I personally dislike the Russian government. Slavic colture is similar no matter what Slavic country. Just because you don't like Russians that doesn't mean the colture is all different.

FOOD!!! I like this thread

I think that there must be a lot of similar recepies between our countries. Sadly, I do not know much about Polish cusine...but I heard that Polish cook cabage rolls similar to the way we do it, and I think that you also must be doing dumplings with different fillings. Right???

Ukrainians do dumplings with potato, cabbage, cottage cheese, eh...sometimes in summer with strawberies or cheries! Ummmmm! Dumplings with meat(pelmeny) seems to be more of a Russian thing in origin((I think)...But we also like them as well! They are so good! We also make stews with meat and potatoes for example....and a bunch of other tasty stuff. Of course, I should not forget about Ukrainian red borsh with garlik "pampushky", which are little breads with a garlic sause. Ummm! That seems to be the most traditional dish I can think of!

Oh, I think I'm starting to get hungry now!

Do you guys make nalisniky? It's crepes with cottage cheese baked in the oven, sometimes served with sour cream (in my case it's all the time . I love sour cream)

What about placki ziemnaczane ~ it's like nalesniki except made from potatoes and it's very sweet! It's good with salt! Anyone knows those?
