Hi, Lina.
Of course, you're quite correct, But, isn't that better than people going without medical care because they can't afford to pay for it ?? I'm glad my taxes help people who earn less than me. I don't begrudge them one 'cent'. I "despise" NHS managers & politicians who waste my 'tax dollars', but never the staff or patients. S.B. |

I think I prefer the comercial one. No, my point here is not to argue which system is better.
I just want to learn how does the alternative work. My main consern if the prices of health insurance will start getting out of hands totally, the goverment may step in with the idea " to help and make everyone happy." From my experience with the efficiency of work of US goverment run immigration services, it really looks scary. Though it might be the choise if the system itself will not solve the money problem. I think helping others is a noble intention. I have nothing against that, but I also think that people have a tendency to abuse it. That's where I have an understending problem...I do not believe that in the US people have unequal posssibilities. I mean, it's much harder to achieve something for people living in Ukraine than in the US. For some reason, a lot of Russian immigrants come to this country without the proper knowlege of the language, the culture, without a certain amount of money and make it somehow through these dificulties. But some locally born and raised Americans "have problems" in doing so and want others to pay for them. A lot of things depend on the choises the people make. If the man in your story planned his life better, he would not be in the position he is in today. He can always try to find another job, move, get some education...Instead he seems to sit down and complain about his life. God forbid anyone to have sick children! It's unfair for the nature to punish children like that, but I do not think that the parents, you described, are alone in this tragedy. I believe that there are a lot of other parents with sick children, who are capable of solving their problems. Why not to show a movie about them for a change? Just a different opinion, from a "heartless" Ukrainian ![]() P.S. I'm looking into healthcare as a career, that's where my selfish curiousity comes from. Thanks for replying, I appreciate it.
