Gaddafi gone, who's next?

Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister has criticised NATO’s action in Libya on many occasions and has said that the NATO force activities went far beyond the UN’s agreement, that such power should be enabled to save the mass extermination of Libyan citizens by Gaddafi’s regime. He says it looks like a clear case of regime change action. If he is correct then the western allies have certainly succeeded.
Many are considering if NATO will now turn its attention to Syria. I think this most unlikely as there is no oil involved here. Sergey Lavrov is being similarly critical of the West for voicing their discontent about the mass killing of protesters in Syria by President Bashar’s regime. He says that the west is interfering in a sovereign state’s affairs, and that it is up to the Syrian people to sort out their differences through dialogue. Whilst I’m not in Syria and can only follow international satellite media, it seems the prospect for meaningful dialogue by malcontent groups is pretty small in Syria.
Surely at the end of the day in all these countries were protests by huge numbers of the population against lifetime Presidents (leaders) regimes are ongoing, the acid test is a simple one…..Declare a date for elections for any candidates who have enough popular support, that we will be observed and scrutinised throughout by independent UN observers. Will these dictatorships agree to this, of course not!
I cannot understand why China and Russia are always inclined to want to maintain the status quo where these long lasting dictatorships are involved. Is that they have some inherent fear about their own lack of popularity with their populations, and are concerned for their own future survival.

AkMike is on a distinguished road
IMO Syria and Yemen will topple next, for the same basic reasons as Egypt and now Lybia.
