baby fund

My wife who is a Ukrainian citizen living in the US told me about a baby fund in Ukraine to which citizens pay a portion of their wages. When you have a baby, the government pays the mother the equivalent of about $3000. She told me they recently increased the money as well. My question is if my wife is still eligible for the money even though she had the baby here and is living here but a citizen of Ukraine.

She is married to you and living in States, which makes her ineligible. You are responsible for all her medical, financial and legal needs. The real legal clincher is, if the marriage were to be dissolved, you would continue to be fully financially responsible for her, for a period of three yrs thereafter.
