Any news?
Hi everyone, Kathy was kind enough to remind me that I should visit this site a bit more often. So, what have I missed? How are all of the members? Any news? This thread could be a "let us catch up a little" type of thread.
I'll go first... In the last year the following happened: - I got married and spent a month travelling through the USA (long and fantastic road trip!). We drove all the way from Vancouver Canada to Vegas, Nevada! Visiting friends, sight seeing ... - I got a new job and it is going well, I enjoy the work, freedoms and opportunities. - I started on a new educational path, which eats away every spare minute I may have otherwise had... but I can't complain because it is that education that allows me to have the new job. - Last month my wife and I bought a new home! Very exciting. - And last but not least, I had a Citizenship test and will become a Canadian citizen within a month (surrendering my Ukrainian passport of course). This must be one of the most eventful periods of my life and I am happy to share the news with those who have known me in these BBs over the years. Now, your turn! Share your stories! |

Congratulaitons!
I am afraid nobody will be able to compete with you What sort of work you have giving freedoms and opportunities and where do you live in Canada? Where will your new educational path lead you? You have missed Ukraine's Footbal success - Lviv was awake until 5am - with fireworks going on and cars beeping non-stop |

Irene, I have no intention of competing... and I cenrtainly didn't come here to gloat. Life is a balance of good and bad, sharing the good seems to be a lot more fun, but if you want the bad, I am not shy... the crisis did hit us as well:
- I had to send support money back to Ukraine to support my relatives - We lost 60% of savigns in the stock market crash - My wife has the crappiest boss, you wouldn't wish that kind of boss on your enemies. - I commute to work by bike every now and then and last week I fell, damaged the bike, got a few brueses and a road rash. Kathy, the education is new because it is after the University, but not a new direction or anything. To become a CA I still have about a year and a half to go... Our duplex (translation: 1/2 of a house) is far from the downtown core, but by moving away from the center we could afford to have a home with a yard instead of a tiny appartment. |

Oh no -I did not ask for the bad- you only spoilt your nice report!
Even speaking of the bad news you can interpret them in another light: eg You lost only 60% of savings. or You are lucky to commute to work by bike instead of spending hours in a jam and must have been born with a silver sppon in your mouth to come almost unscaffed out of this accident |

Haha, no we don't do Surrey
. We settled for border of Burnaby and Coquitlam. I wasn't sure how familiar you were with GVRD. CA work is fun, very demanding and challenging but that only adds to the feeling of accomplishment after every project. Dealing with clients at first was a bit scary, there was the fear that they would ask something I didn't know, and they did and no one was hurt, I just had to get back to them later. |
