Simplified, it means that your motivation in life to do everything to a high moral standard is drawn from the desire to impress yourself, not others.

The statement itself is very sentimental to me, and it would mean a lot to have it in Ukrainian.

Any ideas?

That doesn't translate directly. How about respect yourself? Isn't that what you're really saying?
