Arrow TV in Ukraine

As many of you know I do not live in Ukraine right now (i am in the USA).

I would like to buy my grandmother a TV because her old one is too old.

I was wondering is there any difference in the signal? Would a TV from bought in USA work in Ukraine?

What about an antenna bought here?

How many channels can I get in Ukraine with an antenna? Right now my grandmother has maybe 5 but the antenna is half broken so just wondering.

I'm not sure how practical it is to buy a tv in the US and ship it to Ukraine. Also, the electrical currents are different (110V vs 220V).

Why don't you send her the money to buy a tv in Ukraine? Then she can choose what she wants, and what will work for her.

What is wrong with surprising her with cold hard cash, Stepan?

pete, nicksadler and Andrew are both from the UK. Perhaps one of them would know.

Kathy,

You see, she is older and feels like she will die any day now (which i hate hearing) and says that she doesnt need anything.

Money is not the option here because we send back a lot.

When I was in Ukraine this summer I kept telling her that I will get her TV and she got mad and said, "fine, you get a job, then you buy me a TV with your money not your mothers".

Well I made the money now. If i give her cash, a TV wont be bought.

peteb, Usually on equiptment it says what voltage it can handle, but with the equiptment you have, I doubt most of it would work. You would probably need to get one of those electrical current transforming boxes. But you should ask Andrew or nick

A better option may be to send the money to an aunt or uncle in Ukraine, and ask them to buy her the tv.

pete, my husband says the UK is also on 220V, so your equipment should work fine. However, you may want to wait until you're settled. You may find it is cheaper to buy equipment there, rather than transport it.
