Hi all!!!
I purchased Ruslana's "Crazy Dances" CD last time I was in Ukraine. This girl rocks!!! Is it true that the songs on this CD are based on old Ukrainian folk songs? What is your favorite song by this artist? Next time I visit Ukraine, I'll be sure to pick up some more of her CD's! HEY!!! HEY!!! |

Dude, Ruslana rocks the house!!! I don't want to listen to some Japanese Geisha girl waving her fan....I'm not a fan of that culture but HEY HEY, whatever floats your boat!
HEY HEY!!! Does anybody know where I might find the lyrics of Ruslanas "Kolomiyka" translated into Russian or English? |

Ruslana
She's gorgeous and her music is great! (Is she single? Just kidding)
I'm a bit confused, though as her video that plays on TV is a bit different from the song on the CD. Am I mixing Ruslana up with another artist, or is Ruslana's music video different from the CD? (not much different, but different nonetheless). |

I don't know which song you are referring to, but I know the music in the video of "Kolomyka" is the same as the CD.
The lyrics to her songs are written in Ukrainian. From what my friends tell me, Ruslana is trying to popularize the music of western Ukraine. People living there are called GU'TSULI, it's something like Basques in Spain or Chechens in Russia, but less aggressive. According to her, they are rather nationalistic and despise everyone who speaks Russian BTW, Ruslana performed in a free concert in Ukraine (Kherson) recently- I was told that over 100,000 people attended. Not only was the concert free, but you were allowed to BYOB and take pictures too. When was the last time THAT was permitted at an American concert featuring major artists- Woodstock? |
